Travels makes you feel at home in this world. Well, are you ready to take off? Here are some important things to be done before you take off.

Things You'll Need

Do you have a passport? If not get it without delay. Without your own passport you can not leave your country. Moreover, it is an important personal ID. Even minor children need passports when they travel abroad. It is easy to get a passport. You don't have to take the help of agents. It is better that you have resided at your present address for at least one year and you have an address proof. If you have no ration card, one address proof is enough. If you have one, still you must produce another address proof like gas connection, bank statement (one year) etc., You do not have to worry about visas because travel companies will take care of that aspect. If you are travelling on your own you can obtain tourist visas from concerned embassies. All countries have their embassies in the capitals of countries. They may have their consulate offices in important cities too. Just google for locations of embassies and consulate offices. Ensure that you have sufficient financial level even when you apply for visas.

Steps

1

It is not advisable to travel alone. If you fall sick or land into some trouble when travelling there should be people to take care of you. Either you can join some friends or you should travel with your family. Now many banks have introduced international cards and you can avoid carrying cash. If you are on regular medication for blood pressure or diabtes or any such ailment, do not forget to carry medicines for the entire duration. It is not easy to purchase medicines in certain countries. For example you can not buy medicinces in USA and carry it to some other country without prior permission.

2

Be careful of what you buy when you visit foreign countries Certain commodities may be forbidden items. Ensure that you have all your things including passport and visa copies in locked suitcases and hand bags. Never leave your passport and visa copies under anybody else's care even if they are locked.Leave xerox copies of documents with your people in your home country so that they can act when the need arises. Never allow your fellow travellers to use your suit cases or bags to carry their things for they may even smuggle narcotic drugs without knowing it. Avoid visiting relatives of people living in your street or office lest they will use you as courier services. Remember there is a weight limit for your baggages in airlines and moreover who know what they are sending to their relatives?

3

If you are interested in writing, carry a laptop along with you. Record your impressions, details of places, people, things etc., in the laptop. You can also store pictures in the laptop. Of course you should carry your mobile phone and you should be accessible any time. They say that 2G phones are useless in USA as they are already in 4G and everybody is carrying an iphone. If you can bring out a booklet after a travel, you may find some publisher. At least your people can read that when they have nothing else to do. If your children and spouse are generally uncommunicative, travelling together will help break the ice. "A family which plays together also stays together." goes a saying.

Tips

It is better you know the languages of the countries you visit. In most countries, English helps. There is no point in learning languages of countries which you are going for a short visit. But it is very useful if you can know from internet various words and activities related to your travel. Google 'translate' will help you to find the rigtht word and expression with the phonetics of the language known to you.

Caution

Never fall prey to fake agents who promise you either free ( they may use you to carry commodities when you return) or cheap travel. Choose only well known international travel companies. If you ar on your own, book your hotels and flights well in advance. Never roam around in deserted streets after nightfall. Never start your journey without sufficient preparations beforehand.  BON VOYAGE!
