Stress is a serious word for professionals and unskilled workers alilke. First we should know that stress as such is not bad. Rather without a certain amount of stress, people are not stirred into action. For example, students' ability to learn increases manyfold when they are preparing for their examinations. That is, the stress created by the approach of examinations make students work faster, better and with greater focus. However, when stress levels exceed beyond a reasonable limit, they create the just opposite effect. That is, your focus is disturbed and ability to perform becomes weaker.Extreme stress levels can lead to depression and mental health is lost. Hence the need to manage stress.

Things You'll Need

Every work in this world has a deadline. A home maker has to prepare the lunch for the family members before, say 1 PM daily. The work starts immediately after the breakfast is over. So even a home maker who need not run every morning to catch the bus to the office is not stress free. Perfection and improvement have no limits. This is true even for a worker in a restaurant. Please do not be under the false impression that the chef in a hotel is doing a less important work than the President of United States of America. If he/she is careless, the customer's health is endangered. So every responsible worker experiences stress and the stress levels are not lesser than that of Chief Executive Officer of a multibillion dollar business firm. Then, how stress becomes a negative state of mind?

For stress to be a positive mental state, it should come out of a feeling of responsibility and not fear. Fear appears when you are too personal. 'Personal' here is an euphemism for selfishness. Am I asking you to be selfless like a 'sanyasi'? No. Take care of yourself. But take care of your kith and kin and customers. They make your life meaningful. After all, we are all interdependnat. Perform your duty with a deep sense of responsibility. But do not be tensed up. Be relaxed.

But how to be relaxed in your work place in this fast paced world? But even a soccer player should be relaxed while in the game. Relaxation has no contradiction with focus and hard work. It is a mental state. A relaxed mind is the opposite of a tensed up mind. When a worker in a hypermarket has too many customers to handle at a time, he/she messes up service if he/she is tensed up. So back to the square one: how to be relaxed? Just plan your work. A mother with a new born baby has to plan her day well in advance. Fortunately for her, the new born infant sleeps nearly 20 hours per day. But it demands attention throughout the day and worse, at night too. If you have no plans to meet deadlines and contingencies, your stress levels are bound to increase.But plan realistically and implement your plan to the minutest detail.

A diversion always helps to manage stress levels. Develop interest in some outdoor sports and regularly play. It is good both for the body and mind. But where is the time, you may ask. Just do something that you like most. In fact you should learn to like your work and that is one of the best ways to manage strees. It is important to keep your relations with your near and dear ones as well as your colleagues and superiors in good shape. When I say near and dear ones, I give special importance to your spouse. A good partnership between husband and wife helps to manage stressful situations in life well. I am not going into the details in this regard.

Tips

If you believe in God, pray regularly. Prayer helps to manage extremely stressful situation. If you are Gods, then I have nothing to say to you.
