How to make Lemon Rasam with Ginger ( Remedial cooking for Head ache)

Head ache is a common ailment which occurs for various reasons like stress, excessive strain on eyes,bilouness, fatigue, sinusitis, anemia etc.

Things You'll Need

  1. Tuar dal (cooked)  ½ cup
  2. Ginger                  1” piece
  3. Cumin seeds         1 tsp
  4. Black pepper          ½ tsp
  5. Coriander powder    ½ tsp
  6. Turmeric                1 pinch
  7. Lemon juice           1-2 tbsp
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Chopped coriander
  10. Leaves                  1 tsp

For tempering

  1. Oil                      1tsp
  2. Mustard seeds      ¼ tsp
  3. Asafetida             1 pinch
  4. Curry leaves         6-8 leaves

Steps

grind ginger, black pepper and cumin seeds into a coarse powder and add the mixture to the cooked dal and add the rest of the ingredients,except lemon juice.

mix with 2 cups of water and bring to boil. Add tempering and lemon juice to taste.

this soup taken for break fast instead of coffee and during lunch and dinner clears biliousness and other causes of head ache.

Tips

  • ginger and lemon juice mixed with a little sugar and salt gives relief from headache
  • Hot milk with powdered pepper and turmeric sweetened with honey or sugar is also effective.
  • Stress related head ache can be eased with warm oil massage
  • Fresh pomegranate juice,ginger juice and lemon juice with a dash of salt and sugar relives head ache and nausea if taken at regular intervals.

 

Caution

  • Avoid smoking during head ache as it will aggravate the pain.
  • Avoid beverages like coffee or tea
  • Drink liquids like juices or buttermilk etc.
  • Avoid sweets and excess sugar
  • Avoid Chinese foods that have ajinomoto as sometimes it would cause headache.
