Are you suffering from Pimples (acne)? Fed up with creams and ointments not working? Why don’t you try some time-tested home remedies?

Numerous products are available in the market today, that claim to cure pimples or acne. The companies that produce these creams are getting their pocket filled as the number of people suffering from this condition increases due to dust, pollution, etc. In the olden days, our grandmothers had no such creams or solutions to cure their pimples. They had their own home remedies to get freedom from pimples.

For People with Normal Skin

Rub a piece of turmeric on a coarse stone with drops of water to make a smooth paste. To this paste add drops of milk and mix well. Apply this paste on the pimple-affected area in the night before going to sleep and wash the face in cool water in the morning.

For People with Oily Skin

Rub a piece of red sandalwood on a rough stone with a little rose water and make it into a smooth paste. Apply this paste on the Pimples or as a facemask over night. Wash the face with cool water in the morning for a bright skin.

Neem leaves are a natural antibiotic for our skin as well as internal parts of the body. Grind the neem leaves to a smooth paste with little honey.  Apply this paste on the Pimples or all over your face. Let it stay throughout the night and wash it off with cool water in the morning. This will make your skin feel healthy. If the neem paste is consumed (orally) about one spoon per week, it purifies the blood and rejuvenates the skin from inside.

Ayurvedic Home Remedies

According to Ayurveda, pimples occur due to variety of reasons namely hormones, genetics, oil secreting glands and bacteria named Propionibacterium acnes that lives on the skin and multiplies. Ayurveda has prescribed some effective remedies for Pimple Cure at the comfort of Home.

Mix Bengal Gram flour with fresh curd and apply it on the face over night. Wash it off in the morning. It is a very effective treatment for pimples & other skin infections.

Make a decoction of 1 tsp of Methi seeds (Fenugreek seeds) boiled in 1 litre of water. Let the decoction cool and apply it on the face. It is an effective prevention for formation of pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, etc.

  • Before applying any of the above treatments always wash your face thoroughly with soap or face wash foam.
  • Our body has its own self-purifying systems. Keep these systems in perfect working condition by drinking 7-8 glass of water a day. This is the best way of protecting our self from toxicity.
  • Try one of the above remedies for a couple of weeks. If you’re not satisfied then you can switch to a different one.
  • Always wash your face with soap or herbal face wash 2-3 times a day.  This will prevent build-up of dust, grime, etc.
    • Eat atleast one fruit daily.

  • It should be kept in mind that we should never keep changing the brand of our soaps. Changing the soaps may have chemical reaction to the skin and cause pimples and blemishes. Continue using the same soap that the skin is accustomed to.
  • Avoid or reduce exposure to dust and pollution if possible.
  • Reduce consumption of oily, fatty foods.
