How to vote without a voters card

Have you recently registered for a voter card but have not received it?  Or have you misplaced your voter card.  The enthusiastic voter need not worry. You can present any alternative, valid document to vote for your chosen representative.

Steps

Check the voters list available at any party office or temporary local office, to acertain that your name is in the list.

Take any of the following important documents, preferably with photo identity:
You can take your passport, driving license, pan card, idendity cards issued by private or public institutions (employer), bank, kisan or post office passbooks, identity card issued by educational institutions (in case of students), registered land deed, ration card, pention papers, freedom fighter identity card, arms licence, cerificates issued for physically impaired etc.

Go early to the voting booth, to avoid misuse of your vote by miscreants.

Tips

  • Read the procedure of voting on electronic voting machine
  • Read the list of the candidates and their symbols
  • Use your discretion in deciding about the candidate

Caution

  • Take the original of any document you are carrying and identity proof to vote.
  • Do not show or handover your identity proof to strangers other than the election officer.
