How to take precautions while going out station
Be it a holiday tour, a function, sickness of near and dear, or for any reason if you are leaving your house empty for a few days, it is imperative that you take some precautions to keep your house safe. The indifferent city culture often makes the job easy for the burglars.
Steps
Keep at least one light on to give an impression that some one is there at home. Automatic timers are available in the market to switch on the light at a given time.
switch off the answering machine and close the curtains, put up a sign of "beware of dog"
install a burglar alarm. lock the front door from inside and put a padlock on the back entrance, which gives a feeling that the residents are in. invest in sturdy locks and bolts instead of selecting fancy ones.
Keep your valuables safe, preferably in a bank locker.
tell your neighbors and watchman to keep an eye on your house. inform in your area police station if you are going out for a long period.
inform your paper boy, milk man etc about your absence, the accumulated papers and milk packets publicize your absence.
observe whether the street lights near your house are intact, get them replaced if necessary.
it is a good idea to take the keys of your ward robes and rooms along with you.

Caution
