Becoming an expert at searching Google is a much-needed skill for every netizen today. Following these simple search tips you can avoid hours of frustration trying to find the website that you’re looking for, and also impress your friends by becoming a Google Search Expert!!
Searching for Indian sites – Since several Indian websites host their system outside India always Search ‘the web’ first and only use the ‘pages from India’ option if you find too many search results.
Searching for one OR more keywords- Specifying more than 1 search keyword results in Google finding pages containing both the words. If you want to retrieve pages containing either one of the keywords then separate the keywords with an ‘OR’ in upper-case.
Search for an exact phrase by enclosing the search phrase in double quotes. For eg: “How to shop for Life Insurance”. This will return all pages with the exact phrase in them.
To specify a particular website to restrict your search results to use the prefix 'site:' before the keyword. For eg: site:jaanlo.com used car
Are certain websites restricted at your workplace? Use Google to look at sites that are blocked off at your work place with cache:jaanlo.com
Make the search engine use similar words by putting a ‘~’ before your word. For eg: A search using ~medicine will actually search for the keywords: medicine, medical, health, hospital, etc. This can be very useful when you are not able to get many hits for your keyword.
Specific File Types – If you want to find pages containing specific file types then use ‘filetype:pdf’. For eg: marketing filetype:pdf will result in pages that contain PDF documents related to marketing.
Use Google as a thesaurus by using ‘define:’ followed by the keyword. For eg: define:nano results in various pages providing the definition of the word ‘nano’.
Other cool things - To get the latest currency conversion rates simply put in INR to USD, or to get the weather in a particular city use Weather New Delhi. You can also use it as a calculator by typing the expression to compute. For eg: 34*36 results in 1224.

Nice post
Google is still lacking when it comes to actual rss requests from readers unfortunately. It would be awesome to get something that registers actual requests instead of just clicks. Might be impossible though since it’s all xml.
