Things You'll Need

  • Poha (beaten rice)         2 cups
  • Peanuts fried                 ½ cup
  • Chopped onion              1
  • Chana dal                     1 tbsp
  • Urd dal                         1 tbsp
  • Mustard                        ½ tsp
  • Cumin seeds                 ½ tsp
  • Curry leaves                  1 tbsp
  • Red chillis                     2
  • Green chillies (optional)  4
  • Turmeric                       ¼ tsp
  • Lime juice                     1 tbsp
  • leaves (cilantro)             1 tbsp
  • Chopped coriander
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required

Steps

Heat oil in a pan add urd dal, chana dal, mustard, cumin seeds, curry leaves, red chillis, green chillis . When the dals turn light brown add chopped onion and turmeric.

Immerse poha in water, squeeze and keep in a plate. As the onion turns transparent add the poha.

Add salt and lime juice to taste and mix well.

Transfer into serving dish after 5 minutes. Garnish with fried peanuts and chopped coriander leaves (cilantro) and serve.

Tips

  • This recipe serves 3 people.  Proportionally increase the ingredients for larger quantities.
