Punjabi Dahlia khichidi is very healthy , as it contains wheat and vegetables. It is more filling as dahlia takes more time to digest.
wash wheat dahlia and mung dhal and keep aside heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan, add cumin and coarsely ground pepper,cloves and cardamoms.
add green chilies,mint, ½ of coriander leaves and then kasuri methi. Then add chopped onion and fry till it turns light brown. put in vegetables and grated ginger and fry for 4 minutes.
dhanjira powder – roast 1 tbsp dhania and 1tsp cumin seeds and grind to a powder.
now add the dahlia , mung,asafetida, curry leaves, dhanjira powder, turmeric and salt, mix thoroughly and add 450 ml water,keep it covered and let it cook till the dahlia is done. Add more water if required. Finally add ghee and sprinkle coriander leaves and serve hot.
