Discharge your new battery completely by using it to the maximum possible, then charge it to the full level. Repeat this for the first three charging cycles.
After first three charging cycles, partially charge your battery. Smaller, frequent charges are better than extended charges for the life of your cellphone battery.
To reduce the need for frequent charging, reduce the number of applications that you run on your phone. You may turn off Bluetooth, avoid playing games and the Internet. Reducing screen brightness and eliminating extra sounds like button tones also help.
Do not leave your phone plugged in after it's fully charged. The excess heat from overcharging can damage your battery!
If you want to store battery for a long time without using it, store it in a dry, cool place after charging it about 40 percent.
