Sometimes children swallow beads, coins or other small objects and choke on them. Even adults choke on something they are eating. Knowing a little bit of first aid relieves the person before any help arrives.
You can try to take out the object with a finger if it is possible to reach it.
Stand behind the choking person, make a fist of your right hand, put it just under the centre of the rib cage above the stomach, cover your fist with the other hand and push in with an upward thrust.
If you are an adult walk over to a couch, counter or charie and thrust your abdomen on the hard back or arm till the material that is choking you comes out. Then breathe in slowly.
1. Loosen the closthes of the person to allow him/her her to breathe
2. clear the surroundings so that the choking person gets some fresh air.
3. bend the person a bit and pat hard so that the stuck object will come out.
4. Hold the baby upside down for a short period and pat on the back gently to let the object come out.
• Do not continue your first aid if it is not yielding results.• Call your family doctor or an ambulance and rush to the hospital.• Do not leave any small objects, medicines or chemicals lying around if there is a toddler in the house.
