How to get marriage register/certificate in West Delhi.

How to avail Marriage Certificate/Register from Deputy Commissioner (West), Old Middle School Building, Rampura, Delhi-35

Things You'll Need

Should have these Documents before applying:

  1. Residence proof of Husband & Wife. (Election I Card(front & back) and Ration Card and Passport (All three are good to carry)). One Photocopy of each attested by Gazetted Officer and carry originals.
  2. Date of Birth Proofs of both Husband & Wife (10th Class Certificate / Date of Birth certificate). One Photocopy attested by Gazetted Officer and carry originals.
  3. Separate affidavit from Husband & Wife giving details of: (This can be made behind Deputy Commissioner (West), Old Middle School Building, Rampura, Delhi-35, they charge you Rs110 for each Affidavit. Also attached the sample file for your reference) 
    • Date & Place of Marriage.
    • Date of birth.
    • Marital Status at the time of marriage.
    • Affirmation that parties are not related to each other within the prohibited
    • degree of relationship as per Hindu Marriage Act.
    • Citizenship.
  4. Two Passport Size Photograph of Husband & Two Passport Size Photograph of Wife and ONE Photo of Marriage. All together in One A4 Sheet and each photo should be attested by Gazetted Officer.
  5. Marriage Invitation Card photo copy attested by Gazetted Officer and carry originals..
  6. Identification Certificate attested by Gazetted Officer. Also attached the sample file for your reference.
  7. One Passport Size Photograph of each Husband & Wife attested by Gazetted Officer.
  8. Electricity Bill photo copy attested by Gazetted Officer and carry originals. No matter it's on your father's Name. (no idea why they need it, but they need it)
  9. After you gather all the above documents, then apply online for the date and take the print out of BOTH "Acknowledgement Receipt" and "Filled Application".
  10. Carry Blue Pen and Stapler/Adhesive.

Steps

Gather All the Documents mentioned above in 9 Steps. Self attest by both Husband and Wife on each sheet except Affidavit. and Also write Gazetted Officer Phone Number from whom you got all  the paper attested.

Reach Office by 9:30-945am, before door open @10am

If you have all the paper, the ask your one of the friend for the WITNESS to accompany both of you on the date taken from Online. Make sure witness is NOT in blood relation with either Husband or Wife. Witness should have attended the wedding. He should carry BOTH Election card and Pan Card photo copy self attested along with Originals.

Stand in a line to get your paper check. When paper are checked and approved by administrator sitting in Room No. 2 of Deputy Commissioner (West), Old Middle School Building, Rampura, Delhi-35; He will give you the witness form to fill by Witness and paste your attested Photo (Both Husband and Wife attested photo). Re-submit the papers to administrator. When all the paper are complete, Administrator will generate a copy of marriage certificate (This is just the SAMPLE COPY of how the original will come). Make sure you check EACH WORD in all lines (such as Name of Husband, Wife (after marriage name)and address). Submit all the paper to administrator with confirmations of all the details (Signed by Husband and Wife) and then wait for the Officer to arrive.

Once Officer is arrived (around 11:30am), all(Husband, Wife and Witness) will be called in sequence. Most of the time Witness is being asked questions, else just the name of each person. Assistant will hand over the Signed and Stamped Marriage Certificate by Officer to you. It’s a 2 mins things and then you are married Legally :)

Time totally depends on your no in queue. Normally by 12:30pm-1pm, you will be done

Tips

Just be calm and composed and Have lots n lots of patience.

Caution

Administrator sometimes, who is checking the paper, ask some other paper, which were not mentioned anywhere. Beware !

Thanks, for the detailed information. I have a few questions:
Identification Certificate is for the Gazetted Officer or the Witness? Will this be on a Rs. 10/- Stamp Paper or a normal paper? All the affidavits are to be made on Rs.10/- stamp paper, right?

What other documents apart from PAN Card & Election Card are required for Witness. Do we need an affidavit for them as well? Also, can my Aunt (Mother's Sister) be a witness?
