Every house hold needs a gas connection and to know how to get a gas connection is very important. I am going to let you know what documents you would need to get a new connection and how much would your total expenditure come up to.

Things You'll Need

  1. Proof of residence
  2. Photo ID proof
  3. Locate the nearest gas agency near your house.

Steps

1

After you have located the gas agency nearest to your house, you would need to go visit their office with a proof of your residence and an identity proof. Any government issued document can work as your address/identity proof. Your Passport, your driving license, ration card or even your landline telephone bill should be okay.

2

Once you have registered with the agency they will allocate a new gas connection booking number, which you will require while following up with the gas agency, if ever the need be.

3

Getting a new connection should cost you approximately, Rs. 3050/-

  • Rs 850 towards the deposit for each metal cylinder (you can get up to two)
  • Rs 100 for the regulator
  • Rs 1600 for the gas stove (it is a mandate for you to buy this stove, without which the agencies will not give you a connection)
  • Rs 300 the refill cost of the first cylinder
  • Rs 170 towards the safety kit that comprises the gas tube
  • Rs 25 - 50 for administration and installation charges (whether or not they come to install it at your place)

Caution

To apply for a new gas connection, you do not have to pay any deposit upfront. Booking for a new gas connection is free. In case you are denied of the booking, get in touch with the Customer Service Cell operated by the oil company concerned. The address/phone number of the Customer Service Cell is displayed at all distributer showrooms.
