The air in almost all the cities in India, is polluted. Minute dust in the air is harmful to us, particularly inside the house. Many are falling ill with cold, headache, cough and other lung and eye infections, due to this pollution.

Though it is very difficult to control pollution totally, we can cope up with it with small additions inside the home.

FICUS BENGIMINA: there are a number of varieties of this plant easily available with private or Govt. nurseries. Each costs from Rs. 100/- - 150/- depending upon the sizes.

  • Three  or four planed in flower pots may be kept in the drawing room. This will reduce about 87% of air pollution .
  • These bushy type plants also are inviting to the visitors while adding beauty to your interiors.
  • These plants grow with minimum lighting.
  • Ficus plants will be healthy if you use good soil.
  • Daily requirement of water is ¼ litre.

Tips

Thos with independent houses can grow Ficus Bengimina  outside also.

  • Nurseries even sell soil with a mixture of manures for the plants.
  • If it is possible, once a month, the manure 20-20-20 mixing with one ltr. Water for 5 gms of manure (liquid) may be added.
  • If rooms or hall is very big, you have to use two Bionair purifiers.
  • The purifier requires cleaning of filters once in a month with vacuum cleaner.
  • There is no harm if one uses air conditioner or fans in the room

Caution

  • Do not pour more water when the plants change the color to yellow.
  • If room is very dark keep the plants in a balcony where direct sun does not fall.
  • Take care to keep the children away from the electrical plug where you fix the air purifier However, air purifier unit is very safe and friendly with the children.
  • Do not clean the air purifier with water or wet cloth.
