If you are not satisfied with a product or a service that you paid for, then you have every right to make a legal compalaint against it. Unsatisfactory product or service complaints can be made under Consumer Guarantees Act or Fair Trading Act.
If you have a problem with something you paid for, either product or service, the first thing to do is to go back to the person you made the purchase from, and let them know about your disatisfation. Traders want the customer to keep buying from them and hence, will sort the problem then and there for you. Of course, there are times when you come across difficult traders. Here are the things you can do to make a legal complaint against a product or service.

Things You'll Need

Receipt of the purchased good/goods you want to make a legal complaint of.
A friend for moral support will always be good.
Read up your rights on Consumer Gaurantees Act or Fair Trading Act before you head to make a legal complaint of the product or service.

Steps

1

Speak to the shop keeper from whom the product was purchased. Some traders or assistants will refund your money or offer to provide you a better service or product. If this is not the case, then demand to speak to the owner or the manager of the store. Explain the problem to the owner/manager. Let them know what you want them to do to resolve your issue.
The trader may tell you that you need to speak to the manufacturer. Do not believe this. Once the good is in the traders hands, it becomes his responsibility to give the customer a good product or service.

2

A complaint letter may be helpful to keep a record. Give the trader a copy of the complaint letter, keeping the original with you. Mention the details of the product like, date of purchase, name of the product ect. Attach a copy of the bill as well. Mention in the complaint letter what the problem is and what you want them to do about it.

3

If your issue is yet not resolved by the trader then, you can either approach
a) Trader Organization
b) Disputes Tribunal
And lastly,
c) The Media

4

Traders mostly have an organization. These organizations have a complaint handling scheme. If your complaint is about the way a trader treated you or your complaint, then this is the best place to pour your complaints or grievances.

If your complaint is regarding a breach of contract, Consumer Gaurantees Act or Fair Trading act, you might want to head to the Dispute Tribunal to lodge a complaint.

Caution

Remember! It is your right to get what you paid for. There are laws to help every consumer. Do  not be blind to your rights.
You can always make a legal compaint about a product or service if it does not stand for the gaurantee it gave.
