Home remedies for Cough

If you are tired of drinking up bottles of cough syrup only to find it return, then here are some tips that will not help you to treat cough but also prevent it from recurring.

Prepare a tea of saunf (fennel seeds) and tulsi (holy basil) and drink it twice or thrice a day for immediate relief from cough. This will also soothe the itchy sensation in case of sore throat.

Onions are a great way of treating cough. Extract juice from an onion and mix it with honey. Have it twice or thrice a day.

Gargling with spinach juice is effective to treat dry cough. Carrot juice is also said to be good for those suffering from cough.

Ginger is yet another remedy for cough and sore throat. My mother always adds ginger to our teas back home for its medicinal properties.
Consuming ginger juice twice or thrice a day is effective in treating cough.

Add a pinch of turmeric to honey and that should cure dry cough.

Almonds are quite good for treating cough. Soak them overnight. Peel off their brown skins in the morning and grind it into a paste. Mix it with butter and sugar. Not only does it taste great but it also make you feel better. Take the mixture twice a day for immediate relief.

Tips

Including garlic in your meals twice a week during winter is said to prevent cough.
Chewing on cloves 2 or 3 times a day is also a great way of combating sore throats.
